privacy
Last updated October 7, 2026. This explains what universal-modder, the website and the desktop app, collects, why, and what you can do about it.
what we collect
- Your account. If you sign in with GitHub: your username, name, email address, and profile picture. With Google: your name, email address, and profile picture. With Steam: your Steam ID, persona name, and avatar. We use these to keep you signed in and to show your profile.
- Your sessions. For each browser and app that you sign in on: its IP address, its browser or app, and the name that the app gives its computer. The devices page lists them, and you can end any of them there.
- Your library and installs. The mods and mashups that the desktop app installs for you, and what happened to each one, such as an update, a launch, or an error code, with the game's version. Your library follows you between computers, and makers can see how their work is used.
- Games you host. When you host a game for friends, its join code and your game's network address, which anyone with the code gets while your game is open, and which signed-in friends joined it.
- The desktop app on your PC. To install mods, it looks for games you have installed (Steam, Epic, Xbox, the Windows registry, and Minecraft). That list stays on your PC. We only receive install results. We never collect your files, keystrokes, or screen.
- What makers publish. The files that a maker uploads, and the builds made from them. A browser game keeps its saves in your browser.
- Logs. Our servers log each request, with its IP address and browser, to keep the service running and secure.
- Cookies. A session cookie to keep you signed in, and short-lived cookies that protect each sign-in. We use no analytics cookies.
who processes it
Our hosting and infrastructure providers (Vercel, Google Cloud, and Cloudflare), the sandboxes that build browser games (E2B), and the sign-in providers you choose (GitHub, Google, and Steam). Mod files download straight from where their makers publish them (GitHub, Thunderstore, and Modrinth), so those sites see the download request. We don't sell your data.
how long we keep it
Account data for as long as your account exists. Install reports for up to 2 years. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time.
your choices
- End any session, on any computer, from the devices page. Sign out and uninstall the desktop app at any time: uninstalling a mod restores the files it replaced.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by emailing nick@tryclips.tv.
children
universal-modder isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we say so on the site before it takes effect.
